  • James I believed in divine tights of kings. This made tension with Parliament.

  • The conflict between James I and Parliament led to a civil war, supporters of James were called cavaliers, and supporters of Parliament were called roundheads.

  • Cromwell created a dictator ship for several years, but monarchical power was restored after his death.

  • After the start of the revolution James II fled from England to France.
  • After the revolution ended with hardly any blood shed, William and Mary were offered the throne. William accepted the offer and returned the kingdom to a monarchy.
