Hannah put me on her tapes because of the accident that happened as a result of the stop sign being knocked down. I don't think she can blame me for the accident because there was no way I could've known it would happen.
Irresponsible- Jenny drives while intoxicated. Careless- Jenny refrains from informing the police, and this ends up getting someone hurt. Selfish- Jenny refused to inform others because she doesn't want to get caught drunk driving.
Jenny is first introduced in Marcus's chapter. She seems very energetic and upbeat. In her tape, however, Jenny is very hateful towards Hannah after the accident. She also refuses to take any responsibility for her actions.
Hannah decided to put me on her tapes because she wanted a final reason to kill herself. She let me do what I did, and I don't think I did anything wrong. Sheś just overexaggerating.
Perverted- Bryce has a reputation for doing sexually harassing women. Self-entitled- Bryce thinks that he can do what he wants with no consequences. Controlling- Bryce is able to control Hannah and Justin with excuses like when he convinces Justin to move away from the door.
Bryce is introduced from the start as a disrespectful person. This doesn't change very much later on in the book. The only change is how his actions progressively get worse.
Sincere- Mr. Porter tries to prevent Hannah from committing suicide, but the things he says are too vague for Hannah to make sense of them. Unskilled- Mr. Porter doesn't have the proper education to really help Hannah. This is shown when he asks questions that are either too blunt or too vague. Passive- Mr. Porter doesn't press Hannah for answers when she refuses to answer.
Hannah put me as the final reason on her tapes because of the meeting when she came to me for help. In the end, I was unable to give her the help she needed. There was no way I could tell what she meant when she wouldn't tell me.
All we know about Mr. Porter is that Hannah talks about the 13th tape as being the worst. Once we get to the 13th tape, it is made clear that Mr. Porter was only trying to help Hannah. Mr. Porter is very vague in his questions which points at his lack of training for what he does.
