Hundreds went to the wharf and hundreds more watched from the ships. The ships were not British but their cargo was.The tea was from the British East India Company. The sons of liberty dressed as Mohawk Indians to hide their identities.
There were only 116 documented people who participated.And many took the secret of participating to their graves.People had come from all over to participate in the event ,even as far as Maine and Worcester.There were all types of people including Portguese and African
The amount of tea lost was about 46 tons of tea.There was no violence between the British and Patriots. There was nothing stolen but there were a few attempts.They were also careful to not destroy the ships because they were also American.
