  • The Most Dangerous Game
  • Hey, come back!!!
  • Sanger Rainsford, a young hunter, falls off his boat and ends up on a mysterious island with some VERY mysterious people. Rainsford has the personality traits of perseverance, intelligence, and bravery.
  • While investigating some gunshots heard off in the distance, Rainsford fell off of the boat.
  • Rainsford displays perseverance when he swam to the shore from where he fell off of the boat . The text states, "He began to count his strokes desperately; he could do possibly a hundred more and then-... With his remaining strength he dragged himself from the swirling waters...Dense jungle came down to the very edge of the cliffs... He flung himself down at the jungle edge and tumbled headlong into the deepest sleep of his life." This shows how Rainsoford perseveres.
  • Rainsford displays intelligence by how he makes a bunch of different trails before he decides where he is going to stay. The text states, "He executed series of intricate loops; he doubled on his trail again and again..." This shows how Rainsford is intelligent and thinks through his decisions before he makes them.
  • Rainsford displays bravery when he confronts General Zaroff in his bedroom.  The text states, "The general sucked in his breath and smiled. 'I congratulate you,' he said. 'You have won the game.' Rainsford did not smile. 'I am still a beast at bay,' he said, in a low, hoarse voice. 'Get ready, General Zaroff.' " This shows how Rainsford is brave.
  • All of these personality traits make it clear that Rainsford was going to beat General Zaroff in the game.  Perseverance, intelligence, and bravery all combined make the most perfect game. In the end, it seems as if Zaroff got what he wanted, a challenge.
