  • Mr. Jones goes to the bar and gets drunk. He forgets to feed the animals so they break into the feed shed and eat all the food.
  • Chapter 4
  • After Mr. Jones tried to whip the animals, the animals chase Mr. Jones off of Manor Farm. After they chase him off they made the 7 commandments. This is their set of rules on the farm.
  • Chapter 5
  • By the end of the summer, all the animals achieve some degree of literacy. The pigs become fluent in reading and writing, while some of the dogs are able to learn to read the 7 commandments. The animals make a flag for the farm and raise the flag every Sunday.
  • Chapter 6
  • Mr. Jones goes to the bar and complains about how the animals took over his farm. They decide to team up and try to fight back against the animals. Mr. Jones, Pilkington, and Frederick march to the farm.
  • Snowball searches through Mr. Jones books and comes up with the idea of building the windmill. Snowball is chased off of the farm by the dogs.
  • A storm comes through the farm and destroys the windmill, which they worked so hard on. Napolean believes that the windmill was knocked down my Snowball and sets a bounty of Snowball. The animals begin living in the farmhouse and sleeping in beds.
