It is only natural that we, as a people, would be curious to find out about the history behind these amazing games that bring the world as we know it together. With me here today is archeologist, Sandra Bowdler. Welcome to tonight’s show Sandra.
Sandra Bowdler: thanks for having me. I always love to talk about the history of important events in our life today. It’s great to be here. Interviewer: well, we’ll get started right away. As you now know, tonight’s topic is the Ancient Olympics. So Sandra, what was the program of the Ancient Olympics?
Sandra Bowdler: The ancient olympic games were held over 5 days, each day erving an individual purpose. The games were held in honour of the god Zeus, this made the games a somewhat religious festival. The first day of the games was dedicated to religious ceremonies, competitors with animals would have spent the evening tending to their animals and making sacrifices to appease evil spirits.
