Before any real means of transport was invented, we had to either walk or use animals such as my donkey here.
After the invention of the wheel,carts drawn by horses were used which increased the speed of travel and they could carry far heavier loads.
In order to cross the oceans in search of new lands and resources, The Vikings made boats that had sails and up to 60 oarsmen who rowed the ship.
The steam locomotive changed the landscape of transportation as trains were able to transport people and heavy goods over long distances.
In 1886 Karl Benz invented the motor vehicle which had an engine and changed the face of land travel as we know it for ever.
The Wright brothers were the first to fly a fixed winged aircraft which was the start of the revolution of air transport.
Today we have Rockets that travel into space. How far we have come since the humble wheel!
