  • The Chaldeans controlled Judah in 605 B.C. In 597 B.C. the Jews decided to join Egyptians to rebel against the Chaldeans. This made King Nebuchadnezzar to punish the Jews by making 10,000 Jews leave the city . He chose a new king for the Jews and in 586 B.C. the king knew it was dangerous, but he still revolted against the Chaldeans and failed. Thus making the King of Chaldeans destroy the Jerusalem and took as many Jews as he can which became the Babylonian Exile.
  • enough is enough! AGH!
  • A group called the Persians took over Babylon and defeated the Chaldeans in the 500s B.C. The new Persian king namde Cyrus ruled and approved for the Jews to return to their home. Although the Persians didn't allow the Jews to have their own king, they still helped rebuild the temple and Jerusalem. Without a king, the Jews depended on temple priests (responsible for sacrifices in the Temple)  and scribes ( teaching the law of Moses).

  • The army of the Greek King named, Alexander the Great took all control of Judah after defeating the Persians. The King let the Jews stayed while introducing his own culture of Greek language and ways; the Greek also renamed Judah as Palestine. Palestine was then divided in to 2 (Syria at North and Egypt at South West) among the army generals after the death of Alexander. The place became chaotic when the rulers needed money from the Jews.

  • Hmm... Yes... The Torah...
  • After being ruled by the Greek and taking a lot of the Jews' belongings, Judas Maccabeus; a priest, decided to rebel with his followers against the Greek ruler named Antiochus in 168 B.C.  Judas and his army was named the Maccabees; after battle by battle, the Jews had finally won and drove the Greeks out of their place. They removed all connections and focused on their beliefs of God making  a holiday named Hanukkah by cleansing the temple each year.
  • After years of success came an end in the year 63 B.C. when the Romans took Palestine. The Romans divided Palestine into provinces called Judaea, Samaria,Idumea and Galilee. After being controlled cruelly, the Jewish hatred for the Romans grew; some were waiting for God and some made an army called Zealots to rebel against the Romans. The zealots did not succeed and the Romans retook Jerusalem, killing and forced many Jews to leave.
  •  years passed and the Jews decided to fight for their freedom in the year A.D. 132. Jews had won with the leader Simon Bar Kochba. But after 3 years, Romans fought and killed many Jews including Simon. The Romans banned the Jews from living and visiting Jerusalem. The Jews respected new leaders called rabbis to teach the Torah and provide people with care. Many years later, Palestine was divided and a new country for the Jews were built; it was called Israel.
