No Witchcraft for Sale
Doris Lessing Tristan Smith 1st Period 5/2/18
The main character is Gideon. He is an Zimbabwe native naturally on the dark side and tall. He is a very caring man who knows a lot about the medicine of his people. He treats everyone as equals and sees everyone as equals.
A family moves to Southern Rhodesia the Lessing family. The had problems having a child. When they had one the servant Gideon grew quite attached. One event would be when Teddy the new born child chases off a dark skin kid and Gideon corrects him. Second event would be when Teddy gets Venom in his eyes and Gideon heals him.
The main conflict would be when Teddy gets Venom in his eyes. One day when Teddy is playing he sees a snake hanging from a tree and it spits venom in his eyes. He would go completely blind from this.
After Teddy was bit Gideon knew he had to help him. So he used a plant from in a bush. After that Teddy was able to see again.
The theme for "No Witchcraft for Sale" was the two cultures clashing. Personally I loved the story because it showed even with the clashing culture he still saved a boy from another culture. This story would be a great example of two cultures not agreeing.
