  • Wow!
  • Ooh guardare! La Statua della Libertà! (Ooh look! The Statue of Liberty!)
  • Ooh.
  • A medical officer quickly inspects Lauro and the other passengers as they get off different ships for obvious illnesses.
  • Lauro has to wait for three hours in order to talk to an officer so that he can go into New York.
  • Lauro Marco!
  • Three Hours Later...
  • Lauro is asked a few questions about himself to be granted access to the country.
  • Nome? (Name?)
  • Durata? (Age?)
  • Record criminale? (Criminal Record?)
  • Buon lavoro. (Good job.)
  • L'occupazione? (Occupation?)
  • Sedici. (16.)
  • Nessuno. (None.)
  • Lauro.
  • Ho usato per essere un bracciante agricolo. (I used to be a farm hand.)
  • Non è sposato. (Not Married.)
  • Stato civile? (Marital Status?)
  • Lauro is let out of Ellis Island and is finally in America. He starts by finding Uncle Ettore, who is very welcoming.
  • Ho intenzione di trovarmi un lavoro. (I'm going to go find a job.)
  • Io ti aiuterò. (I will help you.)
  • Lauro and Uncle Ettore are yelled at by a nativist as they go to find Lauro work.
  • Che cosa ha detto? (What did he say?)
  • Go away you new immigrants and stop stealing our jobs. You shouldn't be in America.
  • Tu non vuoi che io traduco quello. (You don't want me to translate that.)
