The Natives are savages ready to kill at any moment.
You must not bring any weapons.
Bradford is shown in the picture calling the Natives savages even though he has not met one. He believes that the Native Americans are the barbarians that are stated in the bible.
When the Puritans reach Cape Cod, they are not impressed with the place because of how rocky and gloomy it looked. It was cold and rainy which made the of everyone worse and made many feel like they wasted their life on the journey.
After the Puritans meet the Native Americans, rules are created to keep peace between the two different cultures. One rule, which Bradford is paraphrasing is "they should leave their bows and arrows behind them" (p.20).
