The rising action is when the man checked in on the old man for seven days, on the eighth day the old man woke up. "He screamed once and once only. Then I smiled the deed is almost done."
The climax is when the man had to kill the old man and hide his body. If you still think I'm crazy, you will think so no more when I tell you the wise way I hid the body. I worked quickly but silently. First I cut off the head the arms and the legs. Then I took up three planks from the floor and put the pieces in the space underneath. Then I replaced the planks to well that no human eye could have found anything wrong."
In the falling action there are three police men who come to the house because someone reported a scream. "I smiled then invited them in. The scream, I said, was my own. I had been daydreaming. I told them the old man was away in the country.'
