  •  Madame Loisel and her husband live in France, during the 1900's.  Monsieur Loisel is a teacher so he makes enough money to support his wife. They live in an average house with a maid to do the cleaning and cooking.

  • Madame Loisel is not poor and lives and nice life, but she craves the rich and elegant life. she loves to have money and fancy things. She is ashamed that she is not rich and does not live in a huge gorgeous house.

  • The Loisel's were invited to a very nice and expensive ball. Madame Loisel is mad and does not want to go because she does not have a nice and suitable dress to wear. Her husband decides that he will buy her a beautiful dress to wear. But she can not wear such a nice dress with no jewelry to go with it. Just to her luck she has a very rich friend that can load her a beautiful necklace. she is the most dazeling woman at the ball and she loves it.

  • When madame Loisel gets home she realizes that she does not have the necklace and it is no were to be found they retrace their steps but never find it.
  • They did not want to tell her friend that they lost the necklace so they bought a new one. The necklace costed so much that Monsieur Loisel had o make shady deals with no good people to get the money. But after they bought and gave the necklace back they had to repay their dept. This dept lasted them ten years and made then very poor.
  • Finally after ten years they had repaid their dept and were free from it. Later on Madame Loisel saw her friend and told her the whole story. Her friend then told her that the necklace was a fake and made of paste. But Madame Loisel had replaces it with a real diamond necklace.
