Storyboard Text

  • Placing a cigarette between his lips, he struck a match, inhaled the smoke hurriedly and put out the light.
  • Exposition
  • This is the main character in The Sniper. As the name suggests, he is a sniper in Dublin during the civil war.
  • In the beginning of the book, he is eating a sandwich and enjoying a smoke while on guard duty.
  • There was a flash and a bullet whizzed over his head. He dropped immediately
  • Conflict / Inciting Incident
  • The inciting incident occurs when he is shot at by a sniper on the other side of the street.
  • Oh!
  • Pow!
  • Rising Action
  • For the rising action, an armoured truck comes around the corner and the sniper shoots the gunner. However, the sniper is shot in the arm by his opposing sniper and cannot hold his gun.
  • The sniper raised his rifle and fired. The head fell heavily on the turret wall.
  • Pow!
  • Climax
  • Knowing he cannot escape without eliminating the enemy sniper, the sniper puts his cap on the end of his rifle and fools the other sniper into believing that the gun is the sniper.
  • Taking off his cap, he placed it over the muzzle of his rifle. Then he pushed the rifle slowly upward over the parapet,
  • Falling Action
  • When the sniper reached the laneway on the street level, he felt a sudden curiosity as to the identity of the enemy sniper whom he had killed. He decided that he was a good shot, whoever he was.
  • Resolution
  • Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother’s face.
  • Agh!
  • Once the enemy sniper fires at his rifle, the sniper takes the opportunity to shoot the enemy with his revolver while he is exposed.
  • As he is escaping, the sniper becomes curious as to the identity of the opposing sniper and walks toword the body.
