  • Ouch!

  • Dad? Your alive?!
  • If he would have drunk anymore of the dirty water, he could of died.
  • In the beginning, the people he had walked with left him behind in a barn. Salva was all by himself and felt lonely, scared, and sad. He was only 11 years old and felt no capable of going on his own.
  • The mosquitos were biting Salva and the people he was with. Salva might have felt itchy and uncomfortable. He had to learn dedication and how to work hard. Salva had to build a boat and work with others to continue on the journey. This shows character growth because he went from scared to cooperative.
  • Salva found out that his dad was alive in the hospital, so he wanted to go see him . When he arrived in his dads room, the nurse had said that Salvas dad was very sick from the dirty water. If he would have drunk more, he would have died. This made Salva feel happy and relived. This shows character growth because arranging the flight and trip was not easy. Salva had to learn how to be determined to work hard to succeed.
