  • ACT 1 SCENE 1
  • "When shall we three meet again?"
  • "Fair is foul, and foul is fair..."
  • "When the hurly-burly's done..."
  • ACT 1 SCENE 2
  • "Brave Macbeth... chopped his way through..."
  • "Great happiness!"
  • ACT 1 SCENE 3
  • "Banquo and Macbeth, all hail!"
  • "Speak, I charge you."
  • "Were such things here as we do speak?"
  • The three witches plan to meet again once the war has stopped with Macbeth.
  • ACT 1 SCENE 4
  • "I have to plant thee, and will labor to make thee full of growing. Our elest, Malcom... prince of Cumberland."
  • A soldier updates King Duncan on the status of the war. Macbeth has bravely ended it and the thane of Cawdor is revealed to be a traitor.
  • ACT 1 SCENE 5-6
  • "For those of old, and the late dignities heaped up to them, we rest your hermits."
  • "See, see, our honored hostess!"
  • Macbeth and Banquo meet the witches. They foretell that Macbeth will be king and Banquo will bear kings. Macbeth begins to have dark thoughts.
  • ACT 1 SCENE 7
  • "Who dares receive it other, as we shall make our griefs and clamor roar upon his death."
  • Macbeth meets with King Duncan who proclaims him the new thane of Cawdor and his eldest son, Malcolm, prince.
  • Lady Macbeth welcomes King Duncan into their home. Little does he know, she has plotted his murder.
  • Macbeth is hesitant to murder Duncan, wary of the consequences, yet his wife pressures him to carry on with his initial thought. They reach a final decision and plan the murder.
  • "I am settled, and bend up each corporal agent to this terrible feat."
