As a kid, I was always interested in reading. My first books were large books with colorful illustrations, which then slowly transitioned towards chapter books, and eventually book series.
I would read anywhere and everywhere. I was either in my own world reading or multitasking.
As years passed, reading became less of a pleasure to do, and more of an assignment. It went from being excited to read the next book series to dreading to read for class.
Sophomore year in high school, I read Mother to Mother for class. While no one else seemed interested in the book enough to even finish it, this was the first book that I enjoyed reading and was for class.
As I continued my academic career, more and more books that were initially for class purposes became my favorite books to recommend for others to read.
I've come to realize that while purely reading for pleasure might be more difficult for me now, I might be able to pick that back up knowing that I still enjoy reading here and there.
