  • Why cant I have more money and nice cloths?
  • What do you suppose I should wear. I have nothing to wear ,and I have no jewelry. 
  • I have got you an invitation to go to the ministry party. 
  • The Necklace 
  • I will go look for it. 
  • Exposition- When the wife was wishing and imagining that she had more money and were upper class like many other women that she knows. All she wants is to be respected and well known throughout the city. 
  • I wonder what my life would be like right know if I hadn't lost the necklace?
  • Rising action- When her husband gives her the letter and she realizes she has nothing to wear and no jewelry to the event. She is very upset and angry at her husband for bringing this decision upon her without any warning and not many time to decide. 
  • I have spent ten years of my life working for nothing. 
  • The necklace was only a few hundred francs. 
  • Climax- When she barrows the diamond necklace and goes to the event. Then, she loses the necklace that she borrowed. A huge wave of stress and ideas washed over her and set doubt into her mind. 
  • Falling action- When they can't find the necklace and are forced to buy a new diamond necklace and spend the next ten years of their lives paying off a necklace that is not even theirs. They pay the necklace off by performing hard manual labor. 
  • Resolution- She finally payed off the necklace and encountered the lady that lent her the necklace that she lost in the first place. She decided to tell her the truth about the necklace and she later found out that the necklace she lost was only a couple hundred when she payed thirty-six thousand for the replacement.
