  • In November of 1519 the Spanish Conquistadors, lead by Cortes, arrived at Tenochtitlan a highly sophisticated Aztec society
  • =
  • Montezuma was the king of Tenochtitlan, which had a very strong religious structure. Montezuma believed that Cortes was a god. This was evidently a very big weakness to the Aztec society in conclusion.
  • Conflict arose quickly however as there was a major miscommunication between Cortes and Montezuma during a gift exchange. Soon after Cortes captured Montezuma.
  • Not long after Montezuma had been captured he died. It is not known whether it was Cortes of his own people.
  • Over the course of two years the Aztec empire crumbled. Thousands of people Aztecs died from the result of violence and disease.
  • After two long years of battle and suffering, in 1521 on the 26th of May Tenochtitlan fell. This completely perished the Aztec empire and declared the Spanish the winners of the war.
