I wonder if maybe, just maybe, I should try to do my senior project on the foster kids and teamwork.
I guess there's no harm in trying.
Alex found out that her parents had died on their way to her track meet. A drunken driver had unexpectedly crashed into them. The police officer had come to the school to inform them. Coach Espinosa was telling Alex.
You know you could join the track team, right. Now that you regained your trust in sports.
No way! I am not running!
The whole rest of the day she could not stop thinking about it. She made a list of reasons why she should not, but had this feeling like she should. She fell asleep wondering if it was okay for her to do something sport related after what had happened to her.
The next day she woke up thinking that she would give it a try.
Victor tried to speak to Alex about the track team. He told her that it was almost their season. She could try out and run. Alex would not hear of it. She did not want to go through that again. Even though Victor told her that it would not be the same as before, she would have none of that.
She went a whole week without talking to him. She did not like it but she did not want to admit that maybe he was right. She thought about it a lot.
It's been a week...
Alex could not stand it anymore. She rode her bike to his house and knocked on his door. They talked about it and she agreed to try out under one condition: no matter how far the meets were, when he went to see her he could not go in a car.
