Women often wore low-waisted dresses. They bobbed their hair and wore bright colored scarves and stockings. The war changed men's clothing unlike seen before in history. Wide legged pants were common among young people. Brighter and lighter fabrics were also used to make suits.
Made the purchase and consumption of alcohol illegal. Alcohol was still easily obtained especially for the wealthy class. Prohibiting the purchase and consumption of alcohol gave rise to the gangster era.

During this time period, the government instituted prohibition. This banned the buying and consumption of alcohol all throughout the United States. During prohibition there were groups of people that still distributed alcohol. These groups also owned speakeasies, which were hidden bars hidden in deli's and if you knew the right password you could go to the bar.

Jazz heavily influenced the 1920s. With electricity during this time recording became a big deal. Record labels began to appear during the 1920s. Record labels began to expand modern music and you could hear music in more than live shows, like from prior years.
Fitzgerald, author of "The Great Gatsby", was one of the primary spokesmen for the Jazz Age. He was considered one of the greatest American writers to this day. He was also born and raised in St. Paul, MN. Married Zelda Sayre in 1920, she was extremely wealthy. Poor marriage, always fighting and cheated on each other to get back at the other for cheating.
This time period brought great wealth to America. New money families were getting rich real quick mostly from bootlegging alcohol during prohibition. For fun people would go to speakeasies and drink bootlegged alcohol. During this time people also became obsessed with famous people.
