  • Wow! Our army has grown since the Franco-Prussion War!
  • The growing European divide had led to an arms race between all of the main countries.

  • Let's form an alliance!
  • In 1879, Germany and Austria-Hungary form an alliance. Later on in 1882, Italy joins them as well as France.

  • Imperialism
  • New materials and new markets please!
  • Well, this is our land then ole' chap!
  • In the 1900's, France had control over most of Africa and so, the British took over five continents. The Europeans however, requested for new materials and markets.
  • Bonjour, Africa is our land!

  • Alsace and Lorraine are ours now!
  • Bonjour, we want them back! We will fight for it if we have to!
  • We will show the world how we can still fight! Even though we lost the Russo-Japanese War!
  • Germany took Alsace and Lorriane away from France when they won the Franco-Prussion war. France fought to take them back. Russia, who recently lost a war against Japan, proved how strong they were to the world.

  • On June 28th, 1914, Franz Ferinland, the heir to the Austrian throne, was assassinated
