Storyboard Text

  • THE CARBON CYCLE
  • THE CARBON ATOM IN THE LAST BREATH OF CAESAR ENTERS ATMOSPHERE AS CARBON DIOXIDE.
  • ANIMALS FEED ON PLANTS, PASSING THE CARBON ALONG THE FOOD CHAIN. MOST CARBON IS EXHALED AS CARBON DIOXIDE IN RESPIRATION.
  • CARBON DIOXIDE FORM THE ATMOSPHERE IS THEN PASSED ONTO PRODUCERS TO MAKE CARBOHYDRATES IN PHOTOSYNTHESIS. SOME ALSO COME OUT IN PROCESS OF RESPIRATION.
  • THE ANIMALS EVENTUALLY DIE. DEAD ORGANISMS ARE EATEN BY DECOMPOSERS AND CARBON IN THEIR BODIES IS RETURNED TO THE ATMOSPHERE. MICROORGANISMS FEED ON WASTE MATERIALS OF ANIMALS, AND THE REMAINS OF ANIMALS. THE CARBON THEN BECOMES PART OF THEIR BODIES.
  • IN SOME CASES DECOMPOSITION IS BLOCKED, THE PLANT AND ANIMAL MATERIALS MAY THEN BE AVAILABLE AS FOSSIL FUELS IN THE FUTURE FOR COMBUSTION  (FOSSILISATION). WHEN BURNING THE FOSSIL FUELS THE CARBON IN THEM IS THEN RELEASED AS CARBON DIOXIDE INTO THE ATMOSPHERE.
  • THE END
