  • Yet I refused. I wished to see the caveman, what he had to offer. No pretty sight, it turned out,  for my friends .” Odyessus curiosity causes him to put his friends at risk.
  • And I was filled with laughter to see how like a charm the name deceived them.” Odysseus isn’t taking this seriously. He’s having too much fun.

  • “Godsake Captain, why bait the beast again?”He continues to taunt the Cyclops and make things worse because he has to brag.  
  • "If ever mortal man enquire how you were put to shame and blinded tell them Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eyes." Odysseus pride causes him to reveal his name. This seals his fate for the rest of the story.
