Storyboard Text

  • Texas War for Independence
  • I've finally made it to Texas!
  • Settlers Arrived in 1821
  • This is where you will work, if you disobey there will be consequences.
  • Many southern settlers brought enslaved African Americans with them to work on new land.
  • U.S. settlers in Texas often ignored Mexican Laws that tell them not to bring slaves.
  • No, of course not.
  • Are we really going to listen to these Mexicans and not bring our slaves?
  • Mexican officials complained that Texans did not show much respect for the authority of the Mexican Government.
  • These Texans have no respect for us at all!
  • U.S. Texans met in secret to form a temporary government that would attempt to overthrow Santa Anna.
  • So how are we suppose to overthrow them?
  •  I'm not sure yet but I will not let them boss us around.
  • Santa Anna arrived with 3,000 soldiers on February 23, 1836 and surrounded the 180 troops of the Alamo.  Santa Anna surrounded the Alamo for 13 days. The Alamo did not surrender and Santa Anna ended up killing the whole Alamo.
  • I will not warn you again, step out of the Church or we will fire.
