  • French Revolution Introduction
  • Factors that led to the Revolution
  • We should revolt. Everything is expensive.
  • Meeting of the Estates General
  • WE always get outvoted. We should meet by ourselves.
  • The French Revolution was when the French people over through their Monarch ruler and created there own government. The revolution caused an up and down life for the French people until it ended. The Revolution happened from 1789 to 1799.
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • We will not leave this court until we have a new constitution for France!
  • There were many factors that led to the French Revolution. First, higher taxes on the third estate caused that group to revolt. Second, a food shortage made it harder for the third estate to find food. Third, food prices became higher because of the shortage. Fourth, the Enlightenment caused people to want to reform. Finally, the people thought King Louis was out of touch with the people.
  • The Storming of the Bastille
  • Free the prisoners!
  • We must kill the criminals!
  • King Louis had the estates general meet to decide what to do about taxes. The first and second estates got what they wanted by working together. The third estate decided to leave. They were not allowed back in when they left.
  • The Great Fear
  • We should start a riot!
  • The nobles are hiring criminals to kill us!
  • When the third estate wasn't allowed back into the Estates General they met at a tennis court. They all swore on an oath that they would not leave the court until they had created a new and improved constitution for France.
  • The storming of the Bastille is marked as the start of the French Revolution. Peasants and members of the third estate wanted gunpowder for fighting so they attacked the Bastille and got some. They also freed seven prisoners.
  • Get the gunpowder!
  • The Great Fear was a time when peasants and the Third Estate started riots and killed criminals. They did this because they thought the nobles were going to hire the criminals to fight the Third Estate. It was never proven the nobles were going to hire the criminals so it was an unnecessary panic.
