Storyboard Text

  • 1585
  • We should claim this land!
  • What are they doing here? We should kill them!
  • 1607
  • 1609
  • In (around) 1585, Roanoke had become a colony. Later, John White decided to sail back to England for supplies, but when he came back, he didn't find anyone! Every colonist was gone and all buildings were carefully dismantled and laid down.
  • 1610
  • In 1607, some White Male Englanders and John Smith set sail for the new world. They were very successful, and started the colony of Jamestown! While they were sailing, many colonists died of disease because of it being so dirty.  (There were no boat props so, sorry for it being blank.)
  • 1612
  • Order!
  • 1609 was a terrible time for the successful colony of Jamestown. This year was the start of the Starving Times. These times were because of the Native Americans refusing to trade with the colonists, leading to them not having enough corn (the main food source.)
  • 1619
  • 1610 finished off the Starving Times with very few people left in Jamestown. The Natives began their trade again with the colonists once they realized that they only wanted peace.
  • 1612 was when they needed order and leaders. The representative government was formed, and the House of Burgesses was established.
  • In 1619, many ships were brought over with women on board. This year was the start of Jamestown's permanency. They began to reproduce, and more people were able to colonize.
  • The Womens are coming!
