The summer going into my junior year I moved to Michigan from Massachusetts. While they are only 768 miles apart, there were differences between the two that I had to become accustomed to.
About a week into my new life in Michigan, my sister and I were enrolled into the gymnastics program at Gym America where I would train 4 times a week.
"So weather living in Michigann?"?
So what do you think of living here in Michigan?
One of my teammates had very strong accents that I would later learn a good proportion of people in living in Michigan had. I could not understand her regardless of how hard I tried.
Hey do you know where the bubbler is?
The bubbler, to drink water from.
I would soon learn that my dialect confused others as well. Words like "wicked" and "bubbler" were unknown to them in the context that I used them in.
