The Rescue from without
Montag flees with the help from Faber he avoided the police and the mechanical hound who are after him. Montag has no desire to come back but lay down in the river for a while. He wants to flee to St. Louis
The Crossing/Return Threshold
In this case Montag doesn't want to go back to the place where books are restricted. Police eventually went back when he appears to be dead
I'm still alive
The government didn't warn the city about the war. Faber is in St. Louis with a group of people but there's no survivors with them. Montag wants to go to a book press but there was a war
Montag meets with Granger and his group. He ends up in the camp and starts his new life with this group who can remember the destroyed city. They will find survivors, recreate and establish a literature society.
