The car crash affected the relationship in their family. The father felt guilty about Chris being in a wheelchair and Chris was worried about not being able to play basketball again. The mom was like the peacekeeper in the whole event.
After the accident the dad's relationship with Chris changed.
The relationship between Chris and his dad improved after seeing Chris play basketball in a wheelchair.
Dad taught Chris a lot about basketball hoping that his son would play the game. Chris was pretty good until the accident. It was a rainy day and while they were approaching a turnoff toward their house in Hartsdale a truck skidded across the road and hit the rear bumper. The little car spun off the road, squealing as the dad tried to bring the car under control. But he couldn't avoid the light pole.
Chris's dad would barely speak to him because his dad felt like it was his fault that Chris was in a wheelchair.
Chris's dad saw that Chris wouldn't give up on basketball even in a wheelchair. Chris's dad helped the coach a bit so that the wheelchair team can shoot more baskets during the basketball game. And the dad was more open afterwards.
