  • Chapter 1 (page 9)
  • "Gi' me that mouse."
  • "You know god damn well what. I want that mouse."
  • "What mouse, George?  I ain't got no mouse."
  • Chapter 2 (page 28)
  • "We just come in."
  • "S'pose he don't want to talk?"
  • "Let the big guy talk."
  • "You the new guys the old man was waitin' for?"
  • Chapter 3 (page 69)
  • "Make 'um stop George."
  • "Come on, ya big bastard."
  • "Get him, Lennie.  Don't let him do it."
  • George is yelling at Lennie for grabbing a dead mouse and refusing to get rid of it, so George takes it and throws it across the river.  Lennie is not aloud to have mice because his hands are so big he ends up killing them.  Lennie listens to George so when he says no mice, he listens.
  • Curley sees George and Lennie and tríes to intimidate them.  Lennie becomes helpless and nervous.  Curley thinks he can intimidate anyone besides Slim and tríes to scare George and lennie.  Lennie is powerless in this situation.  Curley intimidates everyone and George isn't putting up with it. 
  • Curley starts beating up on Lennie and George says let him have it so Lennie breaks his hand.  Curley thinks he is big and tough until Lennie fights him and Curley finally gets what he deserves.
