Storyboard Text

  • Of course we will take him with us!
  • If they give me a chance, I can prove I am more than a burden!
  • Honey! Tonight we will feast for sure!
  • Before the war started, Salva would herd cattle to water holes with his brothers every day. This helped him learn how to take charge and be in control of a situation.
  • After Salva was left behind by the first group he was traveling with, he had to learn to not complain and to work hard so that the second group would not leave him too.
  • Salva Mawien Dut Ariik! You must only walk to those bushes. Can you do that?
  • Salva was one with the boy who found the honey and then alerted the rest of the group so they could all enjoy it together.
  • He's too young and small to be with us! He slows us down.
  • There is no one left to help me, now, so I must be enough to help myself!
  • Salva and the oher boys bring reeds to the men who are weaving the canoes. This is teaching him work and responsibility.
  • When Salva hurt his toe, his uncle came over and gave Salva a goal to work towards. This is teaching Salva perseverance.
  • After Uncle is killed, Salva needs to prove his worth to the group and is last to receive anything as no one is there to get it for him now.
