Storyboard Text

  • Rihanna, lets see how fast you run! We need your exact acceleration, or as you know speed. (1)
  • 3,2,1...GO! (3)
  • Oh wait Ricardo! I think I run like the average person which is 20 miles per hour. (2)
  • You ran at average of 20 mph so lets convert to meters per second. (1)
  • Mass= 33.75 kgAcceleration= 79.94 (m/s)^2 When you multiply, you get 2,697 Newtons. (4)
  • Then we square it! Which becomes 79.94. Now we can solve for force. (3)
  • Force = mass x acceleration Units- Mass : Kg- Acceleration: (M/s)^2
  • 1 mile= 1609.34 meters1 hour= 3600 secondsMultiply 20 x 1609.34 and divide by 3600. You get 8.94 m/s (2)
  • So we need 2,697 Newtons for me to do our dance lift! (5)
  • 2,697 Newton lift!
  • May the mass x acceleration be with you students!
