  • WOW! Swimming makes me feel something I've never felt before!
  • Edna learns to swim for the first time and experiences new emotions.
  • Robert, why didn't you tell me you were leaving to Mexico until now?
  • I've wanted to leave for a while and now I'm finally doing it.
  • Edna finds out that Robert is leaving to Mexico and feels offended at the fact that he would just leave her.
  • I am tired of living in this house. I want to move away.
  • Edna begins to truly realize that she is not happy with her life and duties and decides to move out.
  • Is Alcee going to kiss me?
  • Alcee and Edna look at each others eyes and smile before having an affair.
  • Robert! What are you doing here?
  • I've been home since the day before yesterday.
  • Edna feels offended that Robert hadn't come to see her or written to her since he left to Mexico.
  • I'm tired of it all.
  • Edna swims out to the sea far from the shore and becomes too tired to swim back. She then gives herself over to the embrace of the sea.
