Oh Daisy i need you :( That light is the only thing keeping me going
When that phone rings, a new beginning starts for me and daisy
Now your green light has gone out
QUOTE: “For he gave a sudden intimation that he was content to be alone-- he stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way…” (Fitzgerald 20)
The green light symbolizes hope and dreams. Although Gatsby had past experiences with Daisy causing him to want to be with her, Daisy has a hard time letting go of her current husband Tom. Daisy tells Gatsby that she will call him when she is ready. This quote shows us how Gatsby is reaching out towards Daisy making it seem as though his dreams are so close yet are so far out of reach.
In the end, Gatsby ends up being killed by Myrtles husband since he is grieving over Gatsby killing his wife. Not only does the light symbolize hopes and dreams but it shows the reader how Gatsby was motivated by only one goal in life and that was to get Daisy back in his life.
