  • my people, follow me out of Egypt 
  • hooray, here we come to the promise land 
  • Jacob, was the son  Isaac. Isaac was the son of Abraham, who is known as the person  Jewish history begins with. Jacob had 12 sons, one of them called Joseph. Joseph was sold into slavery in egypt, by his brother. There he became Prime Minister, and was later joined by his family. For 150 years the Jews lived there, until they were enslaved by the Egyptian.    
  • Around 1291B.C God came to Moses, in the form of a burning bush, and told him to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. As they talked God give Moses the ten plagues to help him save his people. Then Moses went to Egypt and delivered his people, form the Pharaoh. Then they headed to the Promised Land known as Canaan.

  • In the land of Canaan the Israelites had three kings, Saul, David, and Solomon (who built the Jerusalem temple). During the ruin of king Solomon Canaan was taken over by Assyrians Empire, then again it was overtaken by the Chaldeans. Jerusalem was destroyed, and the Jewish people were forced into exile.

  • a few years later in 538B.C, the Persians defeated the babylonians, and the king of allowed the jews to come back to jerusalem. The Jews where able to rebuild jerusalm and the great temple. but the Persians still ruled the land, so the jew could not have there own government. Later the 
  • Later the Greek Empire expanded into Israel and Judah, then renamed it Palestine. The Egyptian ruled over Palestine until the were defeated by the Romans in a navy battle. After all this the Jews were mad and tired of being forced into exile and ruled by other people and they wanted their independence back. so the Jews rebelled against the Greeks in a war called the Maccabean war. the Jews were successful, and a Jewish holiday was created call Hanukkah.  
  • once again the jews are not a free people, and are now ruled by the romans. but like before the jews wanted to rebel against the romans, but this time lead by the zealots they where unsuccessful. Since then the jews struggled to be free. now many jewish people live in the surrounding of Israel and in the U.S.
