  • Eric refuses to join 'circle time'. The teacher thinks about her actions while approaching Eric.
  • Use a calm, respectful voice.  Be careful of body language that might provoke him.
  • (calmly speaking) Eric, can I talk to you for a minute?
  • Hmph! (rolling eyes)
  • I want to talk with you about what's upsetting you, but first you need to calm down. Take five minutes in the cool-down corner and then we can talk, ok?
  • The teacher leads Eric to the Cool Down Corner where she will later talk with him about his feelings.
