  • Early  life:  In the   year 1485, Hernando Cortes was born to a popular couple with his dad being the captain of the Spanish army.
  • Early life: When Cortes was just fourteen years old, his parents wanted him to become a lawyer so they sent him to a school that practices laws.  He returned two years later when he was sixteen, not wanting to be a layer but an explorer. He was inspired by Christopher Columbus.
  • Event during exploration: Hernando Cortes later discovered Mexico and the Aztecs.
  • Event during exploration: Cortes and his 500 men sailed to Mexico and eventually the coast of Mexico.
  • Event during exploration: Cortes wanted to capture the city of Montezuma but realized that Spanish troops were after him so he left.
  • Result of exploration:  The king of Spain, also known as King Charles I at the time, made Cortes governor of Spain in return for what he accomplished.
