With one man down, Beowulf attempts, in one last struggle, to rip the monster to shreds. It is a tussle but eventually Grendel loses his arm and runs with blood pouring out of him; a painfully slow way to die!
The great news of Beowulf's victory over Grendel has spread. Grendel's arm has been brought home as a sign of triumph.
Beowulf has proven his trust once again to the king; the king as a result handing him gold, silver and a medal as token of appreciation.
However, somewhere out there lurks Grendel's mother, who is plotting her revenge.
