Hey! My name is Charles Baker Harris. I can read.
Jem, I dare you to go and touch the door.
In the summer of 1933, Jem, who is nearly ten, and Scout, almost six, meet a peculiar new neighbor named Charles Baker Harris, however his folks call him "Dill".
Jem, Scout and Dill went to Boo Radley's house, because of their curiosity about a mysterious man who has never been seen out in public.
Miss Maudie's house burns down. Whilst the community gathers around to help, unnoticed, Boo Radley unexpectedly placed a blanket on Scout's shoulders to keep her warm.
Atticus Finch was the deadest shot in Maycomb County in his time.
One day after school, Scout sees a bit of tin foil sticking out of a knothole in Boo Radley's oak trees. Scout goes over to it and finds two pieces of gum inside and eats it.
When a crazy stray dog comes running down the street, housemaid Calpurnia frantically calls Atticus, Jem and Scout's father. Sheriff Tate hands Atticus a riffle and makes him shoot it. To Jem and Scout's surprise, he shot the dog right between its eyes.
After complaining to Miss Maudie about how embarrassed they were of their dad, and then seeing Atticus shoot the dog, Miss Maudie told Jem and Scout why he was called "One-shot Finch".
