Storyboard Text

  • Hi, welcome to my office! I am Dr. Smith, and I am a pathologist.
  • Welcome to my office! I'm gonna show you around and tell you a little about what I do.
  • Pathology Dept.
  • As a pathologist, I study the causes and effects of diseases, and I examine examine samples of body tissue for diagnostic purposes.
  • I work in a laboratory, but if I wanted, I could work in a hospital, funeral home, morgue, police department, or my own independent office.
  • In order to become a pathologist, I had to go to college for a total of 12 years. I went 4 years for my bachelor's degree, 4 years for my Doctor of medicine(MD), then 4 years of residency.
  • All those years of school payed off, though, because I now make about $255k-300K.
  • There are some disadvantages to being a pathologist. For instance, there were many years of schooling, and I have long hour shifts.
  • I also have a higher associated risk of coming in contact with viruses and bodily fluids.
  • I receive health benefits from my workplace, I get paid holidays and vacations, and in the future I will be able to set up my retirement plan. Thanks for visiting!
  • However, there are so many more advantages to my job!
