The Role of Food in Culture
This storyboard does not have a description.
Hello all! Today I am going to talk to you about the role of food in culture.
Culture shapes us as individuals, but you will be surprised of the outcome when you combine food and culture!
This is why I agree with Biocultural perspectives on nutrition written by Paul Fieldhouse. Food habits come into being symbolically meaningful in a particular culture.
For example, "El Dia de los Muertos" (The day of the Dead) is a holiday celebrated in many Latin American countries, but mostly in Mexico.
This holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died.
So when is it and where does the food come in? It takes place on November 1st and 2nd. Favorite foods and beverages of our deceased are used in the altars that are built to honor them.
