This is the falling action as she wants to speak to the couple that bought her painting but stops herself as she is insecure.
This is the exposition of the story as Magdalena climes over the giant wall to get height over the city which she loves and gives us a visual picture of the city as she is very observant.
This is the rising action as her father dies and she loses the opportunity to learn how to paint or ever be close with her father.
This is the climax as her painting is sold. She got outbid and lost the painting forever.
Painting sold for 25 guilders to that couple over there!
This is the "resolution" of the story as she reflects back on her life and realizes she has accomplished nothing she wished to. She didn't learn to paint and or marry someone vibrant.
