I will stop here to watch the snow and the owner will not find me. My horse thinks it is odd to stop here and he wants to leave. I soon realize he is right and I need to go live my life.

For the majority of the poem the author speaks in awe, the word "but" is used in line 14 in order to show the shift in the mood of the story. He goes from relaxing and watching the beautiful snow to moving onward and fulfilling his promises.
