  • President- George Washington This was a tax protest against the tax of whiskey. The people stated that there shouldn't be tax on whiskey because whiskey was made of corn and corn was not taxed. The U.S. army at the time stoped the rebellion showing that our government was strong.
  • Alien Act
  • President- George Washington This act established the judicial courts. Congress established the court since Article III said they could establish lower federal courts. The people against it argued that they were giving the courts too much power. The people supporting it said that the court would help in the U.S. after the confederation period.
  • Sedition Act
  • President- John Adams This established judicial review. This determined the constitutionality of a law in the constitution. This was established because Madison refused to deliver a commission which was found illegal in the supreme court.
  • Louisiana Purchase
  • President- John Adams A series of laws that said that the president could deport immigrants. This made it harder for immigrants to vote. It also made immigrants life harder since they were not citizens.
  • President- John Adams This made it illegal to speak or express opinions against the government. It counts to anything in the government including the army and any organizations made by the government.
  • President- Thomas Jefferson This was a land deal in which the U.S. acquired a big piece of land. The purchase was between the U.S. and France which cost the U.S. $15 million dollars.
