Gallipoli was supposed to be over fast but the environment and Turks forced Anzacs to fight trench warfare
'Dig your own trench now or they will dig your grave'
After landing, groups of soldiers dug trenches in a hurry for shelter.The trenches and dugouts created mazes. Fleas were everywhere, so were flies. They stayed around the corpses in the space between enemy trenches
