  • The  Lusitania
  • Two torpedos were launched from a German U-Boat sinking the Lusitania causing many deaths.
  • Weak Russia
  • America saw its chance to obtain an important ally with Russia for its own interest after Czar’s abdication.
  • It was a secret telegram sent from the German Foreign Office that proposed a military alliance between Germany and Mexico.
  • Americans were enraged. Lead Wilson to order merchant steamers to be armed.
  • Zimmerman Telegram

  • The U.S. Army had a  total of 121,797 enlisted men and 5,791 officers, America and Americans were unprepared but willing to make the sacrifices to defend their country.
  • The United States on April 6, 1917 joined WWI. It was a turning point for America especially the military allowing it to grow, learn and mature.
