Huck Finn has finally escaped Paps cabin, faking his own death. He starts off going down the Mississippi River looking for a place to go.
Huck lands on Jackson island. He sees a ferryboat , on board are Pap, Judge Thatcher, Bessie, Joe, Tom, Aunt Polly, Sid, and Mary, they are hunting for his remainders while Huck just watches.
For three days and nights Huck set up a campfire and would sit by the bank. He felt sort of lonesome.
Doan' hurt me , I hain't ever done no harm to a ghos'
The next day Huck went off exploring the island, while exploring he bounded onto the ashes of a camp-fire that was still smoking meaning there was someone there with him.
Huck kept a look out for his new company, hiding being cautious. One day, at dawn he saw a light off in the distance, approaching slowly he saw that there was a man sleeping by the fire
The man stirred and stretched, Huck got a good look at him. He realized it was Miss Watson's slave, Jim. Huck was excited but Jim was scared thinking he was a ghost knowing Huck had been murdered.
