Storyboard Text

  • symbol:"Black wooden box"=darkness/death (page.26). Slips of paper were drawn out of the black wooden box  and one of the slips of paper had a black dot drawn on it signifying the "winner".
  • Symbol:Mr.Graves=graveyard; Mr.Graves is an important part to the story because he was the one holding the black wooden box.
  • imagery:"The grass was richly green."(pg.25). It gives you a sight of what the outdoors was like in their city.
  • Imagery:"Clean white shirt, blue jeans." "Faded house dresses and sweaters"  Gives us a view of what the normal attire was in that city at that time.
  •  Symbol:"Stones"=death(pg.33-34). The stones in this story represent death and jealousy. They indicate a deeper idea than it's normal use.
  • Symbol:"Three legged stool". Symbolizes that society is on it's last leg and the savagery in humanity could strike at any moment.
