Danny is a 34 year old man who likes to live a healthy lifestyle. One day after he left the gym, he decided that it was okay to have a cheat day.
He stops at an ice creme shop on his way home and gets an ice creme cone with three scoops with some oreo crumbs on top.
About thirty minutes later, Danny's pancreas detects a sudden spike in the sugar levels in the blood. His pancreas sends a message to the brain, for a response
After taking the afferent pathway, his brain receives the stimulus from the pancreas. The brain decides what to respond with and sends a response to the effector, the pancreas.
Once the response from the brain travels through the efferent pathway, the pancreas reacts by releasing insulin in the blood.
The insulin released from the pancreas helps the sugar levels in the blood to lower to a healthy level. Danny is feeling much better now that his sugar levels are normal.
